about
Track 3 from the album The Lightmaker
lyrics
I used to talk to the moon
My feelings painted on a lake
Moving reflections of voices
Coming from odd ages
The waltz of dusk and dawn
A light that I pass
And shadows I face alone
Ahead of the mass
I once heard the moon flirting with stars
Plotting against the sun
I warned the rainbow
And I told her just to run
Help illusions to cross
The bridges of hope
That’s what I do
That’s what I know
But what becomes of the dreamer?
Once delusion is over?
But does it really end
Really end my friend
To the one who is never forgiven
Wake up, wake up, and listen
Wake up, wake up to freedom
But the dreamer is never forgiven
When I grow up, I’ll be the dreamer
I am the timeless behind time
Nothing but ephemeral
Only an absolute crime
Vanished beyond my sight
I once heard the moon flirting with stars
Plotting against the sun
I warned the rainbow
And told her to run
Help illusions to cross
The bridges of hope,
That’s what I do,
That’s what I know
What becomes of the dreamer?
Once delusion is over?
But does it really end
Really end my friend
To the one who is never forgiven
Wake up, wake up, and listen
Wake up, wake up to freedom
But the dreamer is never forgiven
What becomes of the dreamer?
Once delusion is over?
But does it really end
Really end my friend
To the one who is never forgiven
Wake up, wake up, and listen
Wake up, wake up to freedom
But the dreamer is never forgiven

Soothfully a phenomenal prog rock album—an instant classic. What motivates me to say so, is the music’s incredible expressiveness & its wonderfully cinematic song structures. Jargon is a very good fit with this band. It is quite evident that the band’s current lineup have great chemistry together & that they share a common affinity to this vein of music. I look forward to their next creation. Drifting Sun are definitely one of prog rock’s brightest lights. Thank you, DS!

From the first to the last note, this is a highly accomplished offering. Moving through various themes and movements, the songs on the album lead us by the hand of fate from heartbreak, through despair, and onwards to eventual hope, acceptance and redemption. Charlie Bramald’s lyrics and delivery are a masterclass in performance, all ably backed up by consummate and confident musicianmanship from the band members. Highly recommended. Dean Thom

Wow! What a great album. Lots of great songs and great production. Some impressive guests as well like Jon Davison and Billy Sherwood of Yes. This album should be in every prog rock lovers collection. marcusalmightygemineye
